Wushantou Reservoir Floating Solar PV System Project

Release date:
source: Star Energy

The largest reservoir floating solar PV in Taiwan, "Wushantou Reservoir Floating Solar PV System Project” was officially connected to TPC grid on May 23, 2022, setting a new milestone for the reservoir solar PV farm development in Taiwan.

The "Wushantou Reservoir Floating Solar PV System Project" is a solar power project launched by Chianan Irrigation Association in conjunction with the Taiwan government's green energy policy. It has a total capacity of 13.7 million kWh and expected to generate 17 million kWh of electricity per year while saving 8906 tons of carbon. Xingye Green Energy is the developer of this project and Star Energy Corporation is the EPC contractor. The project, which is currently the largest reservoir floating solar farm in Taiwan, implemented two important features: it incorporates Scotra (South Korea) equipment and patented technology to fulfill water quality standards and Solaredge (Israel) inverter with an optimizer that may reduce the output voltage to 1V while the plant is not in operation or during normal maintenance, which improves personnel and site safety. At the same time, the MPPT function maximizes the power generation series. The 69kV substation began construction on January 28, 2021, while the 23kV connecting station began construction on July 1, 2021. Due to epidemic situation, the imported equipment delivery was affected, resulting in construction of the floating system and module assembly to start in December 2021. The 69 kV EHV equipment was integrated into the system on January 13, 2022, and metered to reach grid connection on May 23, 2022.
